2008 - Happy Birthday J.T. Walsh
On this day, September 28th, 2008 J.T. Walsh would have been 65 years old or at retirement age, yet J.T. was one of my best friends. As I knew him, he was one of the hardest working and kindest people you could meet. Yeah I have heard negatives on the man, but in real, he was honest and would give the shirt off his back to those really in need. I can remember those endless morning or afternoon and evening debates on world issues and also on Hollywood chatter as well. I never really won a debate with J.T., as his Dejesuit school tactics had paid off for him. But we were always on friendly terms at the end and he always called when in town.
I remember those winter holiday times when on a cold night J.T. was safe and by himself in front of a warm fireplace paper at hand. I knocked at the door as he had been expecting me that December evening and as I always kept my word, a warm plate of fresh Christmas cookies and cheer. His eyes opened wide, he invited me in and he was absolutely delighted. This was the J.T. Walsh you didn't know, but that I had been able to know, a gentle warm soul of a man. To me the fall and winter seasons especially heading into the holidays have always been a special time of year. Fresh and crisp, bright with cheer, J.T. was that type of man, a warm soul you always wanted to know and be around, a friend for life, and someone you could consider a family member, a friendly face, always the rock of the world and a happy man, who achieved much in life through good honest work and friends with family. So on this day, let me wish your spirit J.T. Walsh, here in your forums and home, a very Happy 65th birthday. We all love you and miss what work you would have fulfilled for our enjoyments, but we are also blessed with your historic rich past and legacy and you are not forgotten at all, but well loved in spirit at all times of the year. Yes, he was actually not only a top and great talent, but a wonderful person to have known too. Just the best of a person.
