Perhaps in a way the way his character exited the courtroom says a lot of how quickly he left the movie scene in his untimely death. But I often like to rewatch my dvd at home. If you have not purchased the Pleasantville DVD especially in HD, it is well worth watching. The late and great Don Knott's was also in this movie though more in a pivotal cameo appearance. In a sense JT really stole the movie, his character as Mayor though supporting and more limited to the other acting talents outbid them in many respects. Not because he was a personal friend, but rather because he was just that damned great. Here is a youtube I found on the court room scene and if you folks like this and have a Bluray player, definitely get the HD version, it is well worth watching.

Well, over a decade has past since I received the news that day of your passing, and honestly, it is just something that never goes away my friend. Yes, your spirit roams these oft quiet forums, but they have never gone away either, rather they and the super site have remained online this last decade of time. Hard to believe that you had left us at a time when you were in the explosive prime of your career. Your brilliant work, though rare to see these days, and fading, still is with us. I suppose every time I pop in the old tape I have of you in Breakdown, I get the memories of that day with you in that denim outfit and fumbling for the fallen craftsman sockets on your dark garage floor or some time in the breakfast nook, glimpsing out at the bouquet canyon rock at your poolside or a Starbucks scone offered.

People don’t realize JT, just how good a person you were, your laughter and fireside chats near the fireplace about life and issues during the cold holiday nights. I was there, and honestly had the great pleasure of being a great friend. I remember your calls to home here when you were in town. You always took the time to call, and nobody can discount that. It showed who you really were. Your help at the Grateful dead concert helping a charity and hocking tee-shirts when you actually went to see the concert, not work, again bespeaks volumes of the bad screen guy, that was really a saint in real life.

I know that day at Forest Lawn almost eleven years ago, that cold frigid moment in the old north church was your hand touching my shoulder before moving down the aisle. Others felt the cold chill too while services were being said. A goodbye to me on your way to a better plane, yet you are here in cyberspace where you are able to visit us all. You did your family proud, you did this country proud you did the world proud and your memory and work shall live on. You accomplished through very hard work what many of us seem to only dream of. But you did it, and so my friend, here is to still being here in spirit for the last ten years and to the next ten you shall be with us as well.

On this day, September 28th, 2008 J.T. Walsh would have been 65 years old or at retirement age, yet J.T. was one of my best friends. As I knew him, he was one of the hardest working and kindest people you could meet. Yeah I have heard negatives on the man, but in real, he was honest and would give the shirt off his back to those really in need. I can remember those endless morning or afternoon and evening debates on world issues and also on Hollywood chatter as well. I never really won a debate with J.T., as his Dejesuit school tactics had paid off for him. But we were always on friendly terms at the end and he always called when in town.

I remember those winter holiday times when on a cold night J.T. was safe and by himself in front of a warm fireplace paper at hand. I knocked at the door as he had been expecting me that December evening and as I always kept my word, a warm plate of fresh Christmas cookies and cheer. His eyes opened wide, he invited me in and he was absolutely delighted. This was the J.T. Walsh you didn't know, but that I had been able to know, a gentle warm soul of a man. To me the fall and winter seasons especially heading into the holidays have always been a special time of year. Fresh and crisp, bright with cheer, J.T. was that type of man, a warm soul you always wanted to know and be around, a friend for life, and someone you could consider a family member, a friendly face, always the rock of the world and a happy man, who achieved much in life through good honest work and friends with family.

So on this day, let me wish your spirit J.T. Walsh, here in your forums and home, a very Happy 65th birthday. We all love you and miss what work you would have fulfilled for our enjoyments, but we are also blessed with your historic rich past and legacy and you are not forgotten at all, but well loved in spirit at all times of the year.
I have seen plenty of movies and many of the great ones had JT in the background as an excellent supporting actor. He has appeared in so many films which made bigger men stars, but not without the great roles and performances JT has contributed with.

To be honest, I hadn't knwon he was even dead. I happened to just do a little googling about him and saw that he passed several years ago.

Its amazing to see how many tributes there wree for him. Jack Nicholson even dedicated his own Academy to JT. How thoughtful.

Anyway, I loved every charater he played. Most recently, I saw him again in Sling Blade, where he's one of the mental patients.

Well, God Bless him. A shame to see he died so young. His memory will be alive in films for many generations to come.

Well tomorrow is February 27th 2008. It is hard to believe that the JT Walsh supersite is almost ten years old, but it is about to become as such. I remember talking to JT about the sebar.com site and mentioning helping him get a fan website online, but we both weren't into it as deeply at the time. What were into was a movie called Stupid Cougar Laws. It was to have starred JT as the main character. Up till that point he was mainly secondary characters in a lot of flicks but a couple of then exceptions and he had branched into Directing as well. JT was a very hard working fellow, often working several projects and gone for weeks at a time. He always called here when in town and never failed to say hello and invite me over to talk about things.

He was the kind of guy you could never win an argument against no matters how right you were, and I can respect that. But he was the kind of person who deeply cared about others and would give you the shirt off his back when people were down, and JT was a thinker. He was sharp witted, always called it as it was, and he did so in a fun way, which made debating that much more exciting and fun. Like I mentioned, ten years ago JT had been in the San Diego area to work things out, and also was trying to knock off some weight as he had gotten a bit overweight. I can remember him stopping off at work and he had the bicycle a 12 speed he used to ride at Lake Balboa Park in then Van Nuys.

The week before he left, JT had called me and we talked a bit and we were going to meet up with my Producer friend Albert along with Director Glenn Steelman. Glenn, JT and I all had a brunch or powermeeting if you want to call it that, at the California Pizza Kitchen in Tarzana. We decided in late 1996 to take a shot at the movie and it had taken that time to nail the funding down, so the 2nd to third week of February 1998 to set the meeting and everything was set to get the details nailed down, figure out what was needed and get a schedule and timetable down to make the flick. I talked to JT that Monday when he called and it was a go, and what exciting times that my work was finally going to hit as well. Stupid Cougar Laws was set at a budget in 1998 production costs at 2.3 million dollars and would require 4 days of shooting with a second unit in Sacramento. I had exhaustively rewritten the script 14 times for production that wanted consistent change. But with additional tinkering, the film script was perfect, everyone was satisfied and it was a go.

I was sitting at home resting up, when the call came in. Look at the news quick they said, though I missed it on CBS, I quickly switched ABC on and that is when word came. JT Walsh had passed away from massive heart failure. I wasn't interested in SCL the movie at the time, but rather the loss of a great friend, one like family, and also a great human being. It would be months before the public began to hear about it, and when they did, the forums and super site were online. All this slightly less than 10 years ago at the time of this topic post today.

JT's fading work lives on in television and film and now DVD and will continue his spirit and work for decades to come. In cyberspace, his spirit blesses this site and the super site at sebar.com and should hopefully do so for many more years. When you come here, remember that this is a home for JT and that his great spirit may well be reading your posts.

One of a Kind Film Reel, First Film J.T. was Ever in

Hey everyone! My name is Jenna, to introduce myself. I hope everyone is well! I came upon this site because my father was a good friend of J.T.'s way back in the '70's when they were both struggling NYC actors. My mother actually took him to the Opera when my father couldn't go b/c of the rehearsal schedule of the play he happened to be in at the time. J.T. lived with them for a period of time, and my father actually gave him a pair of shoes at one point, when J.T. was struggling. My father loved J.T.. They were good friends, and my father had the utmost respect for him, and knew him as a down to earth, do anything to help a friend, upstanding guy.

They starred together in J.T.'s FIRST EVER film appearance in 1974, a 29 minute NYU student film called "Django", about the life of Django Rienhart. J.T. tried to convince my father to come out to CA w/him to "make it", but my father was convinced that he was going to make it in NY...and well, then I came along and things changed for my father...but not for J.T. He, of course, went on to great success and my father took a different path, and has always spoken so highly of him as a great friend and talented actor.

My dad doesn't have internet, nor is he very technology savvy, but he has in his possession, one of only THREE copies anywhere in the world of this film, J.T.'s FIRST time on film. It is the only known copy still in existence, only been viewed 2 times, in mint condition, encased in a harcover shell, and being that my dad doesn't have the proper equipment, for Father's Day I am getting it transferred to DVD for him, but he really has no use for the actual film reel.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice as to what this film may be worth as a collectors item. My father says it is just "collecting dust" and wants someone who will really cherish and appreciate it and have use for it to have it, but we don't know where to start.
I've grown up listening to J.T. stories. This is a great site I will share with my father. It's nice to meet you all and thankyou for any advice or guidance also!! Take care everyone! ~Jenna~

Oh boy, are we gonna have fun speculating on these.

Well because J.T. Played harder characters from cops to criminals and across all genres, this becomes a very valid consideration.

My gut is that with all the troubles he might have experienced in Dark Skies, he would have stufck to film or perhaps made for cable series.

That being the case I could see him perhaps in a drama crime series playing a cop.

Happy JT Walsh 2007 New Year?

Well it would be smaller, so in honor of J.T. Walsh, I send you all a Happy J.T. Walsh New Year and may you all have a grand time and lotsa fun with family and friends.

J.T. always enjoyed what was behind the door so to speak, in this case the end of the old year where we get to watch him in the clasic "Miracle On 34th Street" (what a treat) and he always looked forward to what the new year had to offer, hence the open door.

Now while the world may have its problems, you can rest assured that this little corner of the world will remain intact and quietly a fun place to visit, post your memorable moments and share everything J.T. Walsh with your friends here. The site has been up since 1998 and it will continue to be for a very long time, so indulge, post, have fun and meet new and old friends here and remember, J.T. is here too!

Has to be the classic movie Miracle on 34th Street originally played by Jimmy Stewart. The more modernized remake of this movie lends to another of J.T.'s greater talents, and about this time each year during the holiday season, on cue, J.T. Walsh returns to remind us of his great talents and also join our homes during the holiday warmth.

I remember often popping by J.T.'s estate and bringing him holiday treats. Often he was alone and it was a quiet time, but having friends over during a quiet evening, shooting the breeze and kicking back were just great times with a great friend. There wasn't anything we could not discuss and believe me, J.T. had a great ear for listening.

But this time of year is always special, because he comes back to us again and again, and as a good guy, tough prosecutor, who softens up in the end. Its like in some ways the old debative J.T. Walsh I know, and often I dread the end of the movie, cause its like saying good bye to my old friend during the holidays. You just hate that ending even though it is a great but somewhat lonely ending in a sense, and you can't help but feel for the character, but also the real life family members who watch J.T. Walsh on screen too.

But once again within coming weeks, we will get to say hello to J.T. and welcome him into our homes when he pops into the tv set both in character and spirit, and know that he is seated right beside us watching the flick and reminiscing the parts and life.

So when the newer Miracle on 34th Street pops on the tube, take an hour or two and enjoy our old friend who has become a big part of our lives and enjoy the time we get to spend with him. Than feel good and go forward and be wqith your family and friends and have fun during this warm holiday season, and just remember while J.T. might not physically be here anymore, his sipirt and the spirit in his work from the near past still is...

Seasons Greetings everyone.

JT was a bigtime 60's person. He loved the music culture, everything American about it, he was into. Not suprising than about the time he attended the Greatful Dead concert. In his shirt and jeans, JT was really there to enjoy the music and fun, blend in with the crowd, and just be like he really was at home, a normal down to Earth guy who just liked living life. But there was another side to JT Walsh. While he played many questionably bad guy characters on the big and small screen, in real life he was quite the opposite. I'll give you a similar example. Jillian Barberie now known as Jillian Reynolds, is a nutcase on the Fox morning show in L.A. with Steve Edwards. You would think she was on drugs or something. But at home, she is said to be quite the opposite, rather quiet a bit withdrawn to her private life and quiet times, as many of us enjoy ourselves when we are at home.

JT was actually a very swet person, just a great guy and at the Greatful Dead concert when he got word that they needed to sell their Greatful Dead T-shirts for charity sake, he was one of the first to get out there and help them sell the shirts...honest! In fact JT who had gone to the concert to relax and just have fun, ended up working, which he was only glad to do. I have heard radio Talk Show host Al Rantel often state "Character is what a person does when your not looking." If that is the case, than what JT did speaks volumes about his inner kindness and who he really was as a person.
